Type of Event
In April 2018, Clownfish Events' very own Operations Director, Alasdair, married the lovely Anna Grace in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside.
As you’d expect, Clownfish were pretty heavily involved – from decorating the venue, to providing transport, to the Best Man’s speech courtesy of MD Matt.
Like most couples, Anna Grace and Alasdair wanted their wedding reception to be a reflection of themselves. Following an intimate ceremony at Anna Grace’s family church, guests headed off to a nearby hotel and gathered in a beautiful white marquee in the garden.
The food was informal (barbecue sharing platters in place of a silver service dinner; a Krispy Kreme doughnut cake) and the bride and groom were keen to make sure that everyone felt relaxed.
The white marquee provided the perfect blank canvas for creative lighting design. During the meal, thousands of twinkling fairy lights cast a soft, warm glow over the tables. Once the dancing began, the marquee was transformed with colour as we used lighting rigs and uplighters to create a dynamic rainbow of lighting effects in contrast to the black, starlit dance floor.
Matt’s Best Man speech took the form of a ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ quiz, complete with music, spotlights, microphones and LED screens showing childhood snaps of the bride and groom. A five-piece jazz band entertained guests for hours of dancing, requiring staging, sound and yes… more lighting! Our LED heart light looked awesome against the black backdrop.
Alasdair chose his favourite games – including a giant Scalextric and Pixel Play – to keep family and friends of all ages amused. We set up a Greenscreen Supreme photo booth so that guests could take photos home as mementos, and a Mirror Booth for snapping, printing and sticking photos into a guest book.
A Sparkling Finish
As the newlyweds left the venue together at the end of the evening, their family and friends lined the walkway with sparklers to give them a spectacular send-off.
Like we always say here at Clownfish, its the little details that make it unforgettable. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Bell!
In Our Box of Tricks…
We laid a pristine white carpet down the aisle of the church for Anna, her Dad and her bridesmaids to walk down.
Having two photographers (plus photo booths!) gave the couple different perspectives of their day. Whilst one focussed on formal portraits, the other captured candid guest shots.
A pretty, white and gold wedding post box was the perfect place for guests to post cards and leave gifts.
Confetti cannons covered the dance floor in gold streamers as family and friends danced the night away.
