A nine year partnership, still going strong.

The brief

Bookfest is an annual project we hold dear. 2017 marked our ninth successful year working with its organisers to bring this magical event to life.

As production partner, it’s Clownfish’s job to design, supply, build and operate every element of technical infrastructure. That includes power, sound, video projection, lighting, recording, staging, rigging, set design, decor, branding… the list goes on.

The site

The festival site encompasses two event tents, catering areas, bookshops, a box office, a green room and a suite of offices.

We have our sticky fingers in all those pies!

Event design

Bookfest is not just about books. There are bands, comedy nights, theatrical productions, personal appearances, panel discussions and workshops alongside a packed programme of author events.

Technical wizardry aside, our crew is responsible for designing and building stage sets as well as decorating and branding the lounges and reception areas.

Site management also falls within our remit, so head clownfish Matt decamps to the Common for the full ten days to make sure everything runs like clockwork.

Our box of tricks

Stealthily quiet generators with 80KVa output to power the entire Bookfest site.

Microphones. Lots of them. We’ve mic’d up a plethora of celebs (and we still get star-struck).

Projectors, PA systems and speakers delivering high quality AV so nobody misses a word.

Lighting rigs and special effects lighting built, installed and operated by Clownfish engineers.
