This one is so simple! Who knew ribbon, wool and string could be so much fun?

This is a technique I learnt at design school - wrapping coloured lengths of ribbon, wool or string around a structure to add a splash of colour and a wonderful new dimension to a bland venue, stage backdrop or table lay.

I love making a statement with a jaw-dropping entrance that entices guests into wanting more - but these things don’t have to be elaborate or expensive. Just imagine walking through a tunnel of coloured ribbons that coordinate with the colour scheme of your event or brand. Something like that creates a real talking point and sets the scene for what is yet to come.

You can also use ribbon, wool or string to enhance your table decorations. Simple jam jar posies or candle holders with coloured wool wrapped around them look gorgeously nordic; for a rustic theme try using natural hessian string or twine. Fancy something more playful? Pom-poms are super-easy to make and bang on trend for Christmas 2019.
