Christmas Wreath 2

With Christmas just around the corner, we are up to our eyes in festive decor and busy creating wintry design themes for everything from fun-filled office parties to elegant private drinks receptions.

Wreaths are classically Christmas and an integral part of every event designer’s toolkit at this time of year. But you don’t have to follow the crowd and stick to tradition every time. Why hang them on doors when you can suspend them from the ceiling? And is one wreath ever enough?

I love using wreaths to create breathtaking venue centrepieces. Like any simple geometrical shape, a wreath is super versatile and can be adapted to suit almost any setting. Try these tricks at your Christmas event:

1. Supersize your wreath and add a couple more in decreasing size to create a stunning chandelier.

2. Flip that arrangement upside down to make an abstract Christmas tree shape.

3. Keep it naturally stylish with foliage, pine cones, dried fruit, winter berries or whatever you can forage from the garden, or add glitz and glitter with baubles and ribbon.

4. Turn your wreath chandelier/tree into a dramatic lighting display by winding plenty of fairy lights between the layers.

Happy festive decorating!
