Not your average wedding reception.

The brief

When Hannah and Phillip approached us about their wedding reception, they already had a firm idea about what was (and wasn’t!) on their wishlist.

They were looking for ideas that reflected their personalities – sporty, competitive, light hearted and fun. Something novel that would stand out from other weddings was essential, but they were strongly against all things showy and ostentatious.

Event design

Before picking out entertainment options, there was some infrastructure to take care of. The venue gave us a stunning blank canvas to work with, but it needed dressing with:

• a stage and backdrop;
• lighting rigs to create ambience;
• a PA system for the music and speeches;
• a dancefloor;
• LED screens;
• and a six metre long, illuminated bar plus stools and cruise tables.

Hannah and Phillip picked out plenty of activities for their guests, including Table Football, Table Tennis, an 8-Lane Scalextric and Strike a Light (complete with Top Gear-style leader boards to encourage competition!) plus four traditional fairground games for a bit of old-fashioned fun.

The finishing touch was a Photo Booth, with free print outs for guests to either take home as a memento, or peg onto ‘washing lines’ there and then, creating a guest book with a twist.

When you’re planning a wedding, it’s far easier to deal with a single point of contact.

We helped Hannah and Phillip select a caterer and a nine-piece jazz band, and we provided an eight-strong team of Clownfish bar staff to make drinks, serve canapes and keep the bar area spick and span.
