Junior Designer – Full Time

Quick intro to Clownfish Events

Our business has evolved enormously over the last 17 years, from 18 year old Matt at his parents’ home to the multi award-winning, multi-million pound, industry leading company we are today.

We’re proud to be the most in-demand and highest-rated events company in the country, and we plan to keep it that way. That reputation and demand means we’re growing exponentially and forever looking for new amazing people to join us! So, if you’d like to be part of ‘exceptional’, please read on…

You can read more about how we do things here, but if you’re someone who brings the fun, owns your bit and plays for the team, you’ll probably love it here.

Junior Designer

We are looking for a Junior Graphic Designer who lives and breathes commercial branding and understands that design is not decoration – it is a business tool.

At Clownfish, our visual output has to work hard. It has to sell us, represent our clients, and hold up alongside some of the most recognisable brands in the country – because that is exactly who we work with. We deliver events for major corporate clients under white-label arrangements where our design work carries their brand, not ours. We also build co-branded assets with venue and commercial partners where both identities have to coexist without either losing its integrity. And we produce our own marketing and advertising materials that compete for attention in a crowded, visually sophisticated market.

This role sits at the centre of all of that. You will be our in-house design resource: producing ads, campaign assets, brand collateral, and guidelines, and ensuring the Clownfish visual identity is applied consistently and compellingly across every touchpoint.

We are not looking for someone who just makes things pretty. We are looking for someone who understands why strong commercial branding works, has the craft to execute it, and has the character to set and defend standards for the team around them.

Brand Design & Identity

  • Owning the visual application of the Clownfish brand across all channels and formats: digital, print, social, events, and internal communications.
  • Developing, maintaining, and enforcing brand guidelines so that every piece of output – whether produced by you, the marketing team, or an external supplier – meets the same standard.
  • Evolving brand templates and design systems that allow the team to move quickly without compromising quality or consistency.
  • Acting as the internal authority on brand: the person who catches what is off, calls it out, and fixes it.

Advertising & Campaign Creative

  • Designing paid and organic advertising assets across digital and social channels: display ads, social graphics, email creative, campaign visuals, and landing page assets.
  • Translating campaign briefs into compelling creative that is built for performance, not just aesthetics.
  • Producing multiple format variants efficiently – resizing, adapting, and optimising assets for different platforms and placements without the work looking like it was treated as an afterthought.
  • Supporting campaign reporting by understanding how creative performance data should inform the next iteration of design.

White-Label & Co-Branding

  • Designing event materials, presentations, and collateral under client brand guidelines where Clownfish operates as the behind-the-scenes delivery partner and the client’s identity leads.
  • Building co-branded assets for venue partnerships and commercial collaborations where two brand identities need to work alongside each other with clarity and intention.
  • Reading and interpreting third-party brand guidelines accurately, applying them to a brief without needing to be corrected, and knowing when something is not quite right.
  • Understanding the commercial and relational sensitivity of white-label and co-brand work: this is not the place for creative ego. It is the place for precision and professionalism.

Print & Events Collateral

  • Producing print-ready artwork for signage, banners, event programmes, branded merchandise, and physical materials across Clownfish events and activations.
  • Managing production specs and preparing files to the correct technical standards for external print and production suppliers.
  • Supporting on-site at events when the brand needs to be right in the room and someone with a good eye needs to be there to make sure it is.

Motion & Digital Production

  • Producing simple animated assets, social reels, and motion graphics to support digital campaigns and event content.
  • Basic video editing for social and digital use, primarily in DaVinci Resolve.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates commercial design thinking, not just craft. We want to see work that was made to achieve something: sell a product, build a brand, drive a click. Show us that you understand the difference between design that looks good and design that works.
  • A genuine fascination with branding — retail, corporate, experiential, all of it. You should be the kind of person who notices when a rebrand lands well, knows why it works, and has an opinion about it.
  • Proven ability to work within brand guidelines. You should be able to receive a third-party brand guide, interpret it accurately, and produce work that would pass their own internal review. This is a core requirement, not a nice-to-have.
  • Experience or strong understanding of co-branding principles: how to balance two visual identities, when to lead and when to defer, and how to produce assets that serve both parties without looking like a compromise.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign are non-negotiable. Premiere Pro or After Effects is useful.
  • Working knowledge of or willingness to learn DaVinci Resolve. It is our preferred tool for video and post-production work, and comfort with it — or the demonstrable ability to pick up new software quickly — matters to us.
  • Comfort with Canva for producing team-accessible templates that maintain brand standards without requiring design intervention every time.
  • The discipline to manage multiple live briefs simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain quality under pressure.
  • Clear, confident communication. You will be briefed by people who are not designers. You need to ask the right questions, push back when something will not work, and deliver feedback in a way that educates rather than alienates.
  • An instinct for setting standards and the willingness to hold them. We want someone who will build a design culture in this team, not just fulfil requests.
