Full Time
About Us:
Quick intro to Clownfish Events
(Psst… best to read our careers section before applying)
We’re proud to be one of the most in-demand and highest-rated events companies in the country… and we plan to keep it that way. Our AV department is at an exciting inflection point. We’re taking on bigger, more ambitious productions than ever before, in some of the most spectacular venues across the UK. And we need an experienced Technical Production Manager to help lead that charge.
This is a hands-on, people-focused role for someone who thrives on the blend of technical excellence, client relationships, and team leadership. You can read more about how we do things here, but if you’re someone who brings the fun, owns your bit and plays for the team, you’ll likely love it here.
About the Role:
Technical Production Manager
This isn’t a role for someone who wants to stay in their lane. We’re looking for a confident Technical Production Manager to help expand our AV offering and deliver exceptional, end-to-end events – from the moment a contract is signed to the moment the last cable is packed away. Think London and beyond, with some genuinely exciting, high-profile events.
You’ll work closely with our Technical Account Managers and AV technicians to deliver seamless productions and manage sub-hires. We’ve been doing this for 17 years – so you’d be joining a business that knows what it’s doing. But right now is a genuinely exciting time to come on board. We’re winning some enormous contracts, we’ve just been awarded Technical Production Team of the Year at the CN Agency Awards. and we’re still small enough that you wouldn’t be a small cog in a giant wheel. You’d be a big one. This is a real opportunity to be part of building something – not just running it. You’ll be right at the centre of shaping what our AV department becomes.
If you’re someone who turns up prepared, stays calm under pressure, and genuinely cares about the quality of what goes out the door, you’ll fit right in.
What a Day Might Look Like:
This role is approximately 60% on-site delivery and 40% office/warehouse/planning.
Project Management
- Own projects end-to-end, from contract signature through to on-site delivery. On time – on spec and to our 5-star standard.
- Work alongside Technical Account Managers and AV technicians to select the right kit, crew, and resources for every job.
- Manage sub-hires and identify opportunities to invest in new equipment.
- Be the main client point of contact throughout. Professional, calm, and always solutions-focused.
- Build strong relationships with trusted suppliers who help us deliver the good stuff.
Event Delivery
- Lead on-site AV delivery, making sure everything runs smoothly and the client experience is exceptional.
- Troubleshoot technical issues confidently and quickly in fast-paced live environments.
- Show up to every site visit prepared, across every detail, and ready for anything.
- Represent Clownfish as the trusted technical expert our clients know they’re getting.
Team Leadership (within 12 months)
- As the department grows, take on line management of 2–3 junior technicians.
- Support their development, workload, training, and career progression.
- Help improve our AV processes and contribute to the culture and ambition of the team.
What We Are Looking For:
You’ll be comfortable across all three AV disciplines and have hands-on experience with professional-grade equipment. At minimum, we’d expect familiarity with:
- Audio
- d&b Y series
- Allen & Heath SQ-5 and Avantis – mixing and operating with confidence
- Dante protocol for multi-desk setups
- Lighting
- Martin, Prolights, Clay Paky, Portman & Astera Titan Tubes and LED profiles
- Avolites & Zero88 console operation
- Video
- Blackmagic Design and Panasonic cameras, Samsung displays, Epson projectors, LED video walls

- General Technical & Production

- Technical drawings or event plans (Vectorworks, AutoCAD or similar is a genuine bonus)
- Solid understanding of power distribution and safe on-site working practices

Beyond the equipment, we’re looking for someone who communicates brilliantly, keeps their cool when things don’t go to plan, and genuinely enjoys working as part of a team that cares.
